It was a busy day for Dave on Friday in Cortez, Colorado- The first stop was Montezuma-Cortez High School where Dave was greeted by nearly 800 students in the gym. Then, it was off to Cortez Middle School for another audience of hundreds of students! That evening, community members filled the auditorium as Dave shared his message of hope and perseverance sponsored by the First National Bank of Cortez. Here are some of the comments we received:
“Thanks again Dave Stevens for coming to Cortez! So many kids and just people in general who needed to hear your message in our little town! Drugs, bullying… you covered it all. It was emotional and a true testament to the overcoming spirit!! It was an awesome experience that many of us won’t soon forget!”

“Thank you SO much for making this possible today!! I wish you could know the stories behind so many of the kids Dave was talking to… kids from tough tough tough places who are struggling now, who needed to hear his story. It was so cool to see them so engaged – I doubt they will soon forget”

All of us at Team Stevens are so grateful to the Cortez community for their hospitality. And a special shout out to Jon from the City of Cortez, Carrie and Jim from the First National Bank of Cortez and Nicholaus and his amazing team of students at MCHS who helped with the AV set up!
